With hearts filled with both sorrow and gratitude, we celebrate the beautiful life of Birdia Oberian Baham, who entered the presence of our Lord on June 21, 2026, at the age of 91. Her unwavering faith, boundless love for her family, and gentle spirit created a legacy that will continue to bless all who knew her.

Born in Monroe, Louisiana to Monroe and Irma Wayne on September 6, 1934, Birdia received her undergraduate degree from Southern University in Baton, Rouge, Louisiana. She continued her education at Atlanta University in Atlanta, Georgia, where she earned both a Master's degree and a specialist degree and was only a few classes shy of obtaining her Doctoral degree.

Birdia was a dedicated educator for over 30 years in Mississippi and Georgia, eventually retiring as an Elementary School counselor from the Fulton County School System. Following her retirement, she loved traveling domestically and internationally with her friends, Daisy Harris and Juanesta Johnston. She enjoyed gardening, solving crossword puzzles, weekend shopping, and attending holiday celebrations.

Birdia lived a life of service, loyalty, and love, and her family was her greatest joy. She is survived by her sons, Curtis Baham Jr. and Darron Baham; her daughter-in-law, Tonya Baham; her sister, Eleanor Lowry; and her daughters, Sheila and Sheuvonda, along with their respective families. Her memory also lives on through her grandchildren, Brett Baham, Kalen Baham, Devin Mixon, and Jarred Mixon. She was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, Hunter Lee, whose memory Birdia cherished deeply. Birdia was also blessed with two great grandchildren, Harmony and Jasmine Baham.

Birdia will be remembered in our hearts forever, and her light will continue to shine in the lives of all those she encountered.
